Created in 1972 after the Stockholm Conference, the United Nations Environment Programme serves as the global authority on environmental issues, tasked with promoting sustainability and coordinating efforts to protect the planet. This committee focuses on two key challenges, Regulating AI’s Environmental Impact and Ensuring Global Water Security. Delegates will debate how to balance technological advancement with environmental protection, addressing the high energy and water demands of artificial intelligence systems. They will also discuss ways to combat worsening global water scarcity caused by climate change, pollution, and uneven access. The committee’s success depends on each member’s ability to design realistic and cooperative policies that preserve the environment while sustaining progress.
